Please read the guidelines carefully.
We award:
- A publishing contract to the winning entry.
- Open to all fiction writers and poets and creative non-fiction writers — whether debut or established writers.
- The entry fee is £22. You can pay with a card via Stripe’s secure checkout. Please use the add to cart button at the bottom of the page and follow the checkout procedures.
- Deadline: 30 November, 2026.
- In addition to filling in the form with your details, please submit two documents: one with your full manuscript (we are open to novels, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections, memoir and mixed genre works written for adults); and one that includes a synopsis and a bit about your writing (your style, aims, previous publications if applicable)
- Individual poems or stories may have been published online or in magazines provided the writer retains copyright.
- We do not take whole works that have been previously published (poetry or story collections or novels previously published in entirety) including self-published whole works.
- International entrants are welcome.
- Work co-authored by two writers is welcome.
- We do not take work with illustrations or work for children/teens.
- Entries should be submitted electronically, via the form below, in PDF format only.
- Please ensure you have up-to-date virus protection before sending any files.
- Do not put any identification on the work. The form below will collect contact details that we will match with you entry via your email.
- Work will not be returned, so please keep a copy.
- We are unable to give feedback on individual entries or discuss the results of the competition — the judges’ decisions are final.
- Results (within 3 months approximately) will be sent individually to all winners and runners-up, published on the Cinnamon website, and included in our newsletter.
- Please note that your payment receipt is your proof of entry and we don’t send out another email. All payments are matched to entries to ensure none have gone astray so please do not email to ask if we have received your submission. We will not be able to reply to these but will follow up any missing entries when we log payments.
- If you have a problem with the website please reset your password and if the problem persists please do not worry. Make your payment and send an email to info@cinnamonpress.com with ‘literature entry’ in the subject line and your entry attached (PDFs only). If you have a problem making the payment send your work, let us know you need to pay and we will try to help and/or send bank details — your entry will still qualify.
