Nicola Warwick was born in Kent and grew up in Suffolk. As a child, she enjoyed creative writing and somehow managed not to lose the enjoyment as an adult. After attempts to write plays and novels, she rediscovered poetry while taking a Diploma in Creative Writing in 1999, and has been writing more seriously since then. She has been published in several poetry magazines, including the Rialto, Acumen, the South and Poetry Review and has been shortlisted in many competitions; as a result has had work in competition anthologies, including several with Cinnamon Press, including Jericho, Reaching Out and The Book of Euclid. Earlier this year she had work in included in the anthology A Poetic Primer for Love and Seduction: Naso was My Tutor published by the Emma Press. She is a regular attendee at the Poetry Café in Arlingtons in Ipswich and a member of Second Light.
Her first collection Groundings is the result of a fruitful year on the first mentoring scheme run by Cinnamon Press.
