Cinnamon Pencil Competition 2019 Results

We're very happy to announce the results of this year's competition to get a free slot on our Cinnamon Pencil mentoring scheme. We had a tremendous number of very strong entries, so the sifting and choosing was quite a task.

The overall winner is Louisa Dacey who will be getting a year's free mentoring on her novel, When the World Stops: we found the characters immediately vivid and distinct, the prose fresh and uncluttered and the story grabbed our attention straight away. We're excited to be working with Louisa in 2020.

The winners of two 50% bursary places were:

  • Andrew Paul Melrose's short story collection, That's Not What I Meant to Say and
  • Lynn Valentine with her poetry collection North.

The full adjudication offers more comments on the winners, as well as a list of all the runners up.

Thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to the winning writers — we look forward to working with them next year.
