Cinnamon Pencil: Online Application
Applying to Cinnamon Pencil to mentor in 2023 is simple.
Please be aware that we have also restructured our offerings and now have three pathways depending on your needs as a writer and whether you are looking for a full editing service with some creative input, an intensive year of one to one mentoring with Jan (plus a supportive peer group and workshops) or traditional mentoring to bring a manuscript to its full potential. Make sure you have read the options here and if Cinnamon Pencil feels like the right fit for you do send us your submission.
We will be reading entries submitted from September 1 2022 to January 3 2023.
Please upload 4 documents: your contact details, plus:
- A synopsis:
- Tells us the outline of the work you’d like to mentor. This document should be no more than 500 words long.
- An extract:
- Give us a flavour of your writing by sending part of the work to be mentored. Prose writers should submit up to 10,000 words of their novel, memoire, or short stories. Poets please send up to 15 poems from your collection/pamphlet.
- And a personal statement:
- Tell us a little about yourself, your writing and why you want to mentor with Cinnamon Pencil. Up to 500 words.
N.B. Please send your documents as PDF files. We cannot accept paper submissions to the scheme and the site security system will not accept .doc or other formats.
Sadly, we cannot give feedback on unsuccessful applications.
We’ll take a look at your application and get back to you as soon as we can, usually from January through to mid February.
Closing dates for applications is January 3 2023.
Thank you for your interest in Cinnamon Pencil and for entrusting us with your work. And good luck!
